Federal Institute for Population Research, Germany (BiB)

The Federal Institute for Population Research, Germany (BiB) was established in 1973 as a research institute working for German government departments within the framework of political consulting. It is an important partner for research facilities at home and abroad in the field of population studies. The BiB is supported in its scientific research by a Board of Trustees composed of nine researchers and nine representatives of the government departments.
About 50 individuals are currently employed at the BiB, including approx. 40 researchers. The Institute is managed as an administrative community with the Federal Statistical Office, and is situated in Wiesbaden, Germany. Since April 2009, Prof. Norbert F. Schneider is head of the Federal Institute for Population Research, Germany (BiB).

European Association for Population Studies (EAPS)

The European Association for Population Studies (EAPS) is a unique, international and interdisciplinary forum for population studies with a special focus on Europe. EAPS is an independent scientific association of individual members and affiliated institutions. EAPS was founded in 1983. EAPS organizes the European Population Conference, which takes place every two years, as well as many other activities.

EAPS has granted its auspices to several collaborative initiatives, such as:

  • Population Europe: the European Population Partnership
  • European Journal of Population
  • European Doctoral School of Demography (EDSD)
